Friends of Friends Friday: Will of John Stanfield, Maury, Tennessee 1813

The following is a transcript of John Stanfield's will dated 1813.  He died in Maury, Tennessee, having moved there from North Carolina some time about 1810.  He lists six slaves among his property; four of them are left to his wife, Sarah (Sarah died in 1836 - no will has been found for her).  He also left a slave to his daughter Elizabeth Harris, wife of James Jackson Harris.  Elizabeth was a widow and living in Marshall, Mississippi by 1840, where she died after the Civil War.  John also left one slave to his daughter Rebecca, for whom no records are found after this date.
